The Guild Project
Class Project (DESIGN 121)
Fall 2023 - Stanford University
Needfinding and Prototyping
With community outreach in mind, I interviewed the manager of a nearby movie theater about the logistics, funding, and target audiences that make running an event-based business possible. My teammates interviewed local event organizers for a better idea of what stands out when looking for a host venue.
In an era defined by technology and social media, a proper website is essential. When looking at the site for The Guild, we observed several places where information was unclear for those who might be interested in booking or visiting the venue.
Our Website Concept
We created a concept in Figma with features aimed at improving user experience based on gathered community feedback.
The booking process was simplified, with a comprehensive calendar and more information about direct inquiries. Venue specifications and floor plans were clearly displayed for better transparency for prospective bookers. The centerpiece of the new site was a 3D space preview, where visitors could get an idea of the space when empty or with a crowd.
3D Model
I was in charge of developing the 3D model. Using a mobile photogrammetry app, we took pictures of The Guild from various angles that allowed us to reconstruct the view from inside. This was integrated into Figma using a plugin.
Early concept of the 3D viewer (Figma)
As part of DESIGN 121, student teams were asked to develop a community outreach approach for a local music venue, The Guild Theatre.
Our group focused on improving the user experience on the Guild’s website, including a streamlined booking process and a 3D preview of the venue space for both artists and prospective concertgoers.
I was tasked with the 3D model concept as well as the script and editing for the project video.
The group presentation video to the right details the process and final concepts from the project.
